Just getting started on restoration of a 69 conv in rough shape. The engine is a non-original 427 - not sure whether the car was originally a big block vs. small block. I also have a parts car of same year with a non-original 350. In the attached pic, the long dark coils are from the bbc project car and the shorter silver ones are from the sbc parts car. Both cars currently have 9-leaf springs in the rear. Any ideas on how to identify which springs these are? Curious about the spring rates and ride height implications of what I have. Any help appreciated...
Mel, thanks - great chart! Just checked my springs and while I didn't get exactly the same measurements, both springs were pretty close to specs on that table. The longer ones appear to be HV's (BB w/AC also syncs up with the car), and the shorter ones appear to be the F41s.
Did the F41 option include the 7-leaf rear spring as part of one option? Both of mine have 9-leafs...

Your top spring is progressively wound, so probably an original.
Your 69 and my 72 would have used the same spring.
Code "HU" if BB w/ no A/C.
Measure the wire diameter with a dial caliper and you will know for sure.
The lower spring is constant wound, or linear, so probably an aftermarket spring.
Measure the wire dia. and the length and coils and then check my chart to I.D. it.
