After close to a year of waiting, I finally got my hydro-boost brake system installed. It is the Hydratech system Model #3004 for '68-'72 Corvettes with factory power brakes and the long rod/deep master cylinder design. I did not do the install myself, but send out a big "thank you" to Sampson Performance, a local performance shop nearby. They said it went in smoothly and Hydratech's instructions were very good. I weighed the components, and overall gained 5 lbs. The stock booster weighed 9 lbs., and the hydro-boost weighed 14 lbs. I noticed the difference immediately, with the positive feel of the new unit.....effortless, almost "toe-touch" brakes. Well, now my vacuum system is completely gone, since I previously installed Richard's electric headlight and wiper door kits.
Just ordered mine. Told there was a 90 day lead time on getting a system and any color as long as it's the standard silver anodized. If you want one, may want to get it on order.
I installed a hydroboost as well as the Borgenson box on my 70 big block. bleeding the power steering system was the only challenge but once bled it worked great. I also deleted all the vacuum actuators for the headlights and wiper doors. Made a cleaner appearance in the engine compartment.
Try Sweeting for hydroboost units, they are in Huntington Beach Calif and they have all you may need as well as the expertise.
