This question has probably been asked many times, but when I ran a search, I couldn’t find it.
So, here is my problem:
I have a 1982 C3 CE. The tachometer isn’t behaving. When I start the car, it flickers and the needle jumps around for a second or two. Then it settles at the top end, and stays there regardless of engine RPMs. Where should I start to fix this? Is it a bad ground, or something?
Really? Is there no typical "check this", or "ensure that", before you start replacing items?
yes, a lot of people on here have stated over and over again. Unplug your tach filter and see if that makes a difference. The fact that your tach is reacting, although incorrectly. Shows the signal wire, power and ground are hooked up.
Sorry, it's that simple.
3 wires to a electric tach. Power, ground and signal. If your distributor was at fault your car wouldn't run.
It's your Bloody tach board. It's happened to all of us.
