I´m sure Lars can rebuild it and if I friendly ask him he would do it !
Problem are the high shipping costs from Germany to the USA and back to me after the rebuild. I will check.

I understand the shipping cost deal. I did some looking and it would be somewhere around 700-800 Euro/$750 USD round trip to ship it to Colorado and back. So I get it, it's expensive.
In my personal opinion though it's worth it to have it rebuilt IF (I'm sure Lars was 100% clear if it could or couldn't) it can be rebuilt provided it can get here and back safely. We have a phrase that we use here in the US from time to time. "That's the cost of doing business".

I recently shipped to Wales and UPS wanted $240. For a box about the size this carburetor would be, USPS was $85, so I sent that way. I can't say anything about what shipping from Germany would cost, but from here, USPS was fairly reasonable.
Send it to Lars.
In the long run you will be better off and you’ll end up spending less money.
My 73 had one of the Edelbrock carbs and it never seems to run the way it should.
I found someone else here in Germany who seems to be competend to rebuild my carb.
He said he would restore and rebuild Rochester carbs for many years.
He has specialized to rebuild Rochester carbs only , no other carbs.
He has many rebuild kits for the different carbs and parts if needed.
Well , I´ll send my carb to him this Thursday . It will take about 3 days for him to do the job.and the costs will be about Euro 300 .
The manifold will be changed to a Edelbrock 2101 .
There is a HEI installed .
Fuel pressure has not been tested.
I further recommend not to put the Edelbrock carb on as well......if you are going to put anything on it....put a Holley 0-90670 Truck Avenger......best out of the box carb for your application......I have used dozens of them and so has Lars......in fact he installed one on a 67' L-79 not long ago.....perfect.
One thing about Edelbrocks is the fuel pressure HAS to be less than 6psi......or you will have major issues......
If you use the 2101 Performer intake....use a 1204 Fel Pro gasket.
Let me give an update :
My Rochester carb has been rebuilt and cleaned up , it lookes like new !
The man who did the job came to me and did a setup with the carb also a tune up with the ignition.
A vacuum leak also has been found and repaired.
Throttle cable was hooked up to the right hole in the throttle lever.
What should I say ?
My car runs great , better than ever berfore since I´m the owner of the car !
No issues , much performance.
It was the right idea not to change to Edelbrock !

You're missing a vacuum nipple in the forward, driver's side of the carb just above the driver's side idle mixture screw - you have an open vacuum leak at that location. Install a nipple and either hook it up or cap it. It should look like this (compare to the last photo in your post above):
