Stripped thread on convertible
recently after trying to get my windows to fit to the convertible top i cam to the conclusion that the top needed adjusting and found that the bolts on the s bracket were stripped. The ones in the S bracket. All of them, last person had put in the wrong bolts on all 4!
Considering that this is spot welded in looks like an exercise in frustration to fix.
Question:
anyone come across this? And have a solution to remedy?
Current options am considering .
1. Somehow bend the holding brackets out to remove the s bracket and weld on some nuts. Just not sure on how hard it is to bend out and back in.
2. Try and hold some nuts in place while it put in a. New bolt.
3. Try and tap a new thread.

Ended up removing the s-bracket which is held in by a spot welded brace across the middle.
Basicallly leveraged the brace until the spot weld let go.
Then welded on a couple of nuts, and a “handle” such that we could hold the s-bracket in place when resintalling.
this worked but resulted in a bit of a bubba fix as we were unable to bend the spot welded brace back.
Worked and you cannot see the “handle” which was just a light piece of metal. (Hope that makes sense)
It is just too hard to get in there.
Might be possible to tap a new thread but we couldn’t get there.
hope that is useful for someone, not the nicest fix but it is fixed, and out of sight.
