I got the BTO crossmember for my TH400 so i could run 3" exhaust easier. the BTO crossmember does have the pulley for the parking brake. look just above the vband clamp and you can see it.

Could you get some pics of the attachments to the outboard frame? If my crossmember fabrication goes south I'd like to see how difficult it would be to modify this BTO crossmember to attach the manual crossmember stubs on my manual frame.

Thanks guys, I just ordered from BTO, they also suggested I absolutely stick with the B&M lock up controller over the 350c vacuum actuated

this is all I got for pictures - these are with my original 3" exhaust and previous TH400. the picture in the other post was with stainless spliced in with vband clamps. I had someone straighten out the bends comming off the collector. If you want I can take a couple close pictures when I get home tonight. car won't be on a lift but I can jack it up a little if necessary.

I have the same trans pan... any scraping issues, I have headers and side pipes so will probably be the lowest point

Hey Golfobsessed, this looks like a nice swap. Now you might consider installing one of these for a little extra fun and interesting looks. I've had several '83 and '84 Hurst/Olds that had them, and installed one in a Ford Lightning we had. Got lots of questions and really like the way they look and work. Best, Paul

I had my original TH400 rebuilt a couple years ago and the place that did it asked if I wanted the deep pan or stick with my stock pan. I was leaning toward stock because of possible clearance issues and they put the deep pan on anyway, but I have not had any clearance issues.

I have this one if I decide to use it for my 4L60E. Brand new in the box plus I have everything to make it work with a 4 speed automatic.

I realize you have received alot of great feedback. Not sure if my 81 process was the same, but to add. I purchased a crossmember from bowtieoverdrive. I did have to weld the ebrack on. I thought it was just a "one off thing as i was in a rush and said send it". The second part about converter. Not sure exactly but the trans shop that built it added a torque converter conversion kit for lockup. I dont have to worry about the brake or electrical for lockup.

Also, on my 81, had to lengthen the drive shaft. in the notes they stated it was 4" to short. Not alot of info, but its been going good with a 3.73 gear.

When you get a chance and are up to it a couple of close up pics of the outboard attachment for that tranny crossmember would be appreciated. Many thanks,

thank you, I do have the B&M lock up controller i will be installing, interesting you had to lengthen the drive shaft, never heard of that as im pretty sure all TH350s are the same length as the 2004R (within millimeters) I do believe there is a longer tail TH350 but was limited to trucks... I will look into that and measure when I return back home.

Many, many, many thanks! Great view and I'd been looking for close-ups of that for years.
Seems to me that if my home-made crossmember ends up FUBAR than I can buy one of these and modify it to make it fit the manual "stubs" on my manual frame.

I concur.
I replaced my Manual tranny (Richmond 6-speed & Muncie M-21) with a 200-4R and it fits snug as a bug in a rug. I actually cut off a little from the M21 output yoke I used on the 200-4R just to give it room for heat expansion..... definitely did not have to lengthen the driveshaft. For that matter I had to cut off a little from the Turbo-400 yoke that the Richmond used also --- for my comfort, not that it should bottom out with the tranny and differential both fixed in place.

I'm in the process of this same swap, since my engine decided to throw up all of its oil for some random reason (Timing cover, frost plug behind the cam.) I figured might as well throw in a 2004R while it was easy.

The trans lines from what I can tell are almost the same routing as the TH350, I have already installed a ShiftWorx shifter, with a new cable. My only concern with that is it's significantly shorter than the stock one.

I'm going with a 2000 stall converter, as my custom ground cam sort of requires it..

From what I've seen, the yoke is the same as the TH350, you just need to find a 27 spline lockup converter that matches up. My transmission was $1150, rebuilt with new everything and a GNX servo. He talked me out of a shift kit as they're quite hard shifting from factory. I am leaving my stock dual exhaust cross member and modifying what I have to there, since I'm doing this on my hoist, I want to avoid removing vital connection points incase it decides to snap in half..

I'll follow this one to see how you make out!

thank you, I'm assuming when you say "cable" you mean the detent shifter cable, I do plan on using my stock cable and not sure I will even change shifter plate to indicate and shift into first manually.
I have a torque converter but 2600 stall so I ordered a 2000 stall lock up converter but just got the message today its out of stock so back on the hunt for one. My car is an 80 so keeping the stock crossmember wasn't an option... 79 and under is an easy fit, i have one on the way from BTO which I think should work if I ever go back to the under car exhaust.
I will keep posted and please do the same.

I'm curious why you'd want a 2000 RPM stall. The stock low-stall converter made my 79 an absolute dog, and that was with 3.55 gears. With your 3.07 rear, you may want to read some testimonials on this Forum about swapping to a higher-stall TC (but not from me, I no longer have any cars with automatic transmissions).
