ECM going bad?
I have some strange behavior going on with my 82. Every once in a while the check engine light comes on but the car is still drivable but clearly in some kind of limp home mode. While it's still running, if plug in my scanner I get nothing. The scanner is just telling me "NO ALCL". I ground the A/B terminals it will not go into service mode. It gets weirder. If I shut it off and start back up light goes away and everything is fine. No codes are stored. This used to be a once in a blue moon event but it happened twice this week.
I am thinking the ECM is going out with getting the EBL Flash my only option. Before I do that, any thoughts for other things for me to check first?

I would lean Yes.My 84 would run great in open loop but when It went into closed loop it ran like ****, limp mode. No codes.Opened ECM and most of the trace leads were lifted and kinda crumpled. New ECM and runs like new.

From: Arizona - If you don’t know CFI, STOP proliferating the myths around it...
If you are getting a CEL, but no codes or you can't get into service mode by shorting pins A&B, the ECM is the likely suspect. Shoot me a PM, I can help you.
