Hi all, I am trying to install these gauges that I removed from a 82 into my 81.
I got the Clock and Voltmeter working.
Fuel gauge goes all the way to end when connected.
Water temp needle moved and stuck now in end position after a power wire touched the S terminal.
Other gauges do not move with the correct wires when connected to the S connector, on gauge.
The factory gauges seem to have a 90Ohms resistor in series.
Can someone knowledgeable / experienced chime in pls ?
I have the old 82 engine with me if the sensors for oil pressure and coolant temp need changed.
Anyways , thanx in advance for any meaningful advice.
I have Autometer Designer Black Series gauges in my 82. Power, ground, and signal from the sensor. I did use the Autometer supplied oil and temp sensors for them to read correctly. Check your fuel gauge to make sure it’s 90 ohm to match the OEM 90 ohm fuel sender. The Designer Black Series fuel gauge is 73/10 ohm and required use of the Autometer fuel bridge 9109 to work properly.

. Hey thanks.
will try with my senders in the 82 block.
if they will fit on the 81 I do not know yet.
we’ll post results here.
thank you again.
Cheers
I don't think it is a question of if they fit, It is a question of the resistance or other electrical requirements that are in the AutoMeter sending units and how they work with their gauges. That might be different then your stock ones. But my Autometer gauges came with instructions that clearly state you need to use their sending unit.
