Part number for speedometer cable
As the title says, I am needing the part number of the speedometer cable for the TH400 of my 71.
I am attaching a photo for those who know or have been through this can tell me if just threading the piece might fix the leak, otherwise I will have to buy a new cable.
From already thank you very much.
Check the on line vendors and look up speedometer cable, there will be pictures of the speedometer drive gear and the seal that fits into it that I think you may need . Take care.
Get the rear of the car up higher (so it doesn't pour trans fluid out), pull the gear housing and replace the outside o-ring and the inside seal and put it back into place. Don't tighten the &*#$# out of the cable, it, just one small uga-duga past snug
O-rings and seal should be available from any local transmission shop, not a "vette" thing
Here's the seal down inside, there should be a clip to hold it in
Sometimes, just adding a second seal on top of the proper seal will stop a leak, especially of there is any wear on the gear shaft, this puts the seal lip onto a fresh area of the shaft. You could just try doing this on it's own to see if it solves your issue until you want to get in deeper
