Default Starter Wiring on 71’ Vette

hi all, i inherited a 71’ with a odd body kit and it looks like bubba has gotten a hold of it, was looking around in the engine bay and came across a mess of the starter wiring which led to me finding other issues, any advice would be appreciated
Does anyone have pics/info on how the starter is wired? fresh batt but no lights on dash, 12v at the starter tho
- i have a purple wire that is spliced to a orange wire that goes to solenoid back into the dash
- a black wire that goes into wiring harness that goes to a splice that has 1 going to goes under dash, 1 that goes to a connector in passenger fender well and 1 that goes to connector near wiper motor
-red wire that goes from horn relay? to a redneck looking fusible link to the solenoid
-yellow sheathed orange wire that goes to a connector with a red wire that goes to a connector with two wires w/green stripe to bottom of distributor
- ignition coil has 2 positive cables 1 that goes to a wiring harness to the horn relay? and 1 neg that goes to a kill switch under dash
im sorry if this is too much info i’m just so overwhelmed with all of this and i can’t find answers

the 4 wires i have that go to the solenoid

i guess the PO taped the red wire from horn relay to a fusible link to the solenoid ?

pic of fusible link?

orange to purple wire

yellow sheathed wire that goes to distributor

horn relay?

Looks like some of the starter wires are routed between the #6&8 header tube instead of behind & under the #8 tube along the firewall. there are people that might chime in with some direction but i would consider getting a new engine/ignition wiring harness and start over. they are about $300.00 and they are the easiest of all the wiring harnesses to install.

Lectric Limited. i purchased mine direct last year because the corvette venders were out at the time but most of the corvette venders carry them.

It is pretty much plug and play. it come with a generic wiring diagram but there are others that are better. the Doc Rebuild & Lectric Limited diagrams are very good. you can probably do it with out the diagram but i would get one as it's will be useful in the future. just start by unbolting the old harness at the fuse block on the firewall and work your way up and around the engine down to the starter. as you disconnect the old harness connect the new harness. this harness does not have the 2 wires that connect to the alternator. i believe that would be on the headlight harness that runs from the fuseblock on the firewall forward to the headlights. take your time and you will have no problem.
