doing an LS7 swap on a 1981 c3 corvette and want to install a backup camera system on the car.
Is anyone running a back camera setup on your C3?
I know its a small car and should be easy to see out of but the back glass tint is so dark that at night you cant see anything out of it which makes backing into parking spaces very difficult.
Curious to see what you guy are running back up camera wise
Be great to have one. Wouldn't want the video screen for the interior since it'd interfere with the stock late 60s, early 70s interior appearance. Be fantastic if the backuip screen appeared on my iPhone 6s.

I'd do it in a second.....not on anywhere near the gauges like already mentioned, but I recently saw a C3 youtube custom build where the rear camera was built in the rear view mirror.

I installed one on a non Corvette that used the your cell phone as the screen. Had to splice into backup light wire. Cant remember the brand, but it was less than $100.

I've seen those kind also, you'd just have to mount your phone somewhere and I believe you have to log in or open an app or something like that.
Cant see watching a phone while I was backing up. Just turn your head, those cameras dont show peripheral anyways.
All these gadjets in cars...little OT but a rental Altima I had last week has that lane change/car too close alert thing...
Changed lanes on the 10 fwy, thank god I looked and saw a honda jump 2 lanes came within inches of smashing me if I hadnt looked. Alert never went off once
Turn your head people stop being lazy wow. Youre in a car not an arcade.. Sorry for the harsh post but some things are more of a distraction than a benefit.
I have one in my C3 but I also have a 9" alpine screen in mine too. Works perfectly well and perfect for backing into the garage. Full disclosure I hate back up cams but it is useful in the C3 for me and was very cheap to do.
I put one in a few years ago, also a front camera at the same time (future front spoiler / curb view so I'll be able to see the paint being ground off).
Both are really pointing more down than back. I want to see curbs, anything else I can see looking out the windows new-parking-cameras
(ok so really it's like most things I do and it was just because I wanted to rather than actually practical)

I had 3 different versions.
had one in the rear view mirror, the mirror was so big it blocked a lot of my view on the passenger side of the air. I almost hit a fire hhhdrant pulling into a gas station. So out it came
next had a small hidden screen that would pop up manually. I had it mounted on my visor, it was on top so I would flip the visor down. Open the screen and when I put it in reverse it would turn on. Downside is it would hit the hardtop when I installed it. I was cleaning the car and ripped it off the visor and destroyed it, 2 down
last is the Bluetooth version for my phone....it takes so long to find the app and open it I can back up and hope I don’t hit whatever is on that side of the car and be a mile down the road before it works....kind of a pos.
i have huge blindspot on the passenger side of the car all the way to the rear. With stone walls and all the stuff just in the yard having that view was nice

Dang....sorry you had to go through all that so that people like me can avoid from trying it! I still think the rear view mirror one might be ok for me.....it is a pretty small window we have to work with for sure.
I agree that we shouldn't rely on them, but man, when backing out and parking using my DD's, it is really, really handy. When backing out of my garage, I have two monkeys that are constantly running around my yard and am so scared of running over them....the camera really gives me a TON of piece of mine when I'm in and out of my property. Parking in public with those things are a freakin God send also and hard to beat when you need to get close. Almost forgot, while I will never put a hitch on my C3's, backing up to my trailer is a cinch and takes me one time to hook up. My camera also works when I'm driving in case I need to see my loads while in transit.
Did you check the one I used in the link? It's pretty close to whatever was in my 72 but I don't know how that compared to the 68

Nice! I checked out your link and love the fab work you did to make it work.
The rear view mirror setup will be what I go with. Not sure which exact mirror setup yet though.
I also think the 81 mounts to the glass so that is good (no fab work needed).
