Default check this Hooker side tube inserts.

Hi
I bought some used Hooker side tubes and this inserts where installed.
Are they any good ? Restrictive ? Noisy ?
They are 36 Inch long and inside tube diameter is about 1 5/8 Inch.
2 ea blocker baffle plates are installed dividing the 36 Inch length into 3 sections, so the exhaust gas has to travel first through the tube , than through the tube holes around back into the center section tube and so on.
The 2nd pic shows a close up view of the tubes with the holes.
The 3rd & 4th pic show the inside and the baffle plate is visible.
No sound absorbing wrapping was present.
This tubes apparently where used on a 67 L88 race Vette.
What do you think ?
Thanks Gunther

I'm betting they are quiet and very restrictive. I don't think theyare Hooker parts, but they look like the louvered baffles Hooker uses in their glasspacks

They are gutted glasspacks... These will be restrictive if you have over 250HP... I noticed a huge difference when I went to JCLs form these.

The originally had glasspack in the 2 spaces and a metal sleave over the whole thing...

Those look pretty restrictive...

I think that there is no muffler on the market that flows better than JCL baffles...

Not that it really matters, but I think the early Hooker side pipe mufflers did not have a metal case. Mine didn't and they didn't have much fiberglass left either. Here are some pics of the glasspacks I pulled out of my used pipes:

Thanks.
You are probably right , they must be restrictive.
I had the glass packs in before, they are a bit shorter and straight through.
I still had to install the HOOKER reverse flow, the most restrictive on earth, to pass the governmental noise test. I need to install them every 2nd year for this test.
I will try this pipes and possibly take the baffles out to compare.
I'm sure JCL will be on my list for the next season.
Oh, I forgot to give the engine details, it's a 427 CI solid lifter L71 square port heads, HOLLEY double pumper mechanical aspirated monster.
68 4 speed M21 close ratio, 3.70 rear end.
God, where you guys crazy those days in USA ?
Thanks for all your oppinions.
Gunther

Hi
Yes, Smokehouse69 , I already did long time ago.
My better half doesn't get it. She could never understand why a 350 CI ( 5.6 Liter ) engine didn't do for me.
Well, I thought, 5.6 Liter is already crazy, why not go to the biggest available ? And for 68 , this was 427 CI ( 7.0 Liters ). :reddevil
When I got this car offered, I wasn't realy ready for a Vette as a toy yet ( financially ), but how could I resist a chrome bumper C3, 7 Liter block, side exhaust monster. The only thing missing where the spoke wheels to complete my dream car. Got them last year. :D
Again, thanks for your oppinions on this mufflers ( restrictors :mad ).
