Hey guys I need some help! My 69 350/350 L46 M20 4 speed car started up fine today and after getting gas I parked. 30 mins later, I came out to leave and the car won’t crank. Radio, battery and clock/ lights work. Checked the battery and starter. Both have power and I pulled the started and had it bench tested which was good also.
I did find a few connections under the dash disconnected (see photo). I’m not sure what else to do. Could the solenoid be bad? It’s getting power.
under the dash there was a pink wire disconnected, a 2 yellow wire disconnected and a 2 wire purple disconnected. Connected the yellow&purple but I’m not even sure that’s right. Any help is greatly appreciated.
car started, drove hot gas and started again no problem. Now nothing

Check the clutch safety switch, it’s under the dash. Use alligator clips and a piece of wire to jump it out. How old is your battery, with the headlights on, when you move the key to start does the headlights dim?

I’ll check the safety switch, I didn’t notice the lights dimming. I did notice the radio would cut out when I tried. Battery isn’t new. We tried to jump it and nothing
Threads like this come up about once a week, doing a quick search of “car won’t start” should give you quite a large number of results.
99% of the time if all other electronics work, but the car won’t otherwise start, it’s the negative battery cable coming out of the battery tray underneath the car and grounding to the frame.
Take the bolt out, clean up the frame to ensure you’re attaching to good metal, and reinstall.
There’s a debate whether dielectric grease should be used on the threads since it is an insulator. In my opinion the ability of the grease covering the metal, keeping it in an anaerobic environment and preventing future corrosion, greatly outweighs the fractions of an ohm increase of the connection. Especially considering this is such a common place for corrosion to occur.

Best of luck
i have searched and tried a few things but I’ll definitely get into the terminal and check that! Thanks!
Do the wires going to the starter look ok? Take a really close look and make sure they are ok. There are special “fusible link” wires (attached to the starter) that will melt if there is a short.
