Hey C3 community. The metal rod that interacts with the cam on my drivers door hinge snapped. The door now freely swings without the intermittent stops. Can this part be replaced without removing the door and/or hinge?
Yup door spring. Very easy to replace. Bought that tool many years ago. It comes in handy for all kinds of weird things!
I CANNOT get the spring to line up with the lower slot. I can get it in if I rotate the spring out of the upper slot, then I can’t get the tool in there. I laid the old and new spring on top of each other and they’re identical.
EDIT:
The new spring was NOT identical. The lower leg was longer than 2 1/8”. A little grinding and the job was done in 5 minutes. Thanks WILCOX video!
