But when you ask what to put on the china walls. Approximately 8 out of 10 will say, use the Right Stuff.
No neef to apologize. Thanks again!

What makes The Right Stuff so unique has two reasons.
First, Black Permatex is well liked for containing oil leaks as most of us know.
However, the squeeze tube works, but a little inconsistent at applying.
Along came an applicator that lays down the perfect bead of RTV. The Right Stuff comes in an aerosol can.
So, you have a great applicator with a great product inside.

On the china walls, you want to lay down a bead like you are welding. Do those areas the very last. And be ready to go with the Intake, soon!

The Right Stuff comes in a variety of can sizes. I have found a small can of it at AutoZone around 3 - 4oz. Thats all you need for the china walls.

I actually used the right stuff when I resealed my intake last year based on advice here. (I had to go look at the can)
I almost thought the can was useless this summer as the silicone in the applicator tube had hardened despite the cap being on it but I was able to clear it and get it flowing again.

And I know, the search function on this forum is useless. Absolutely, totally useless. However, if you go outside the forum, and do a Google search. Most of hits will bring you right back here. With excellent results. Just start your search question with, C3 Corvette .........
Anyway. They make different types of silicone sealants for different purposes. "The right stuff" isn't what you want to seal engine coolant for instance.
However it will seal engine oil like your locking up fort Knox. It's made to fill that gap and hold on tight.
Yes I have actually used just regular standard silicone sealer on the china walls and never had a problem. But then I learned about the right stuff. It is actually even better.
in the spirit of let's do this right the first time,
The Right Stuff on the china walls!
While your correct, EVERYTHING about these 40-50 year old cars has been discussed many many times here. Things change though, not only general opinions but new products or the quality of products so rather than just shutting down the forum and using it as a search archive. The forum owners would rather new threads are started whenever these discussions come up vs adding to old thread conversations.

BTW i'm with you I normally do a google search and research this stuff as theres always more than one way to skin a cat.

Absolutely with you. I read this, NCRS and others some information is just bad, some is old and with new products getting better and sometimes worse as the formulations change, always good to hear about recent experiences.

I tend to take big statements like I only use such and such with a grain of salt, especially if it’s not coming from someone who does alot of whatever it is, not a one off. Ive built 3-4 engines in my day and there’s so much technology now compared to then. Thanks !

Easy Augie. I'm not suggesting we shut down the forum.
I know when I'm about to head into unknown territory. Or even do a job I haven't done in years. I'll read through as many old threads on the topic I can find.
And then I often still get on here and ask.
I was suggesting Google searching for old threads to help add to his knowledge. Not trying to shut down the forum.
relax a little Mate.

I just used some last month. Instructions claim that if you leave some goop in the nozzle, it will keep the can from drying out.
Which I did. And put it back in the packaging. Time will tell if it has a shelf-life.

I always bought the smallest can I could find and considered it disposable, a one-time-deal.
Use it. Pitch it.

I got some THE RIGHT STUFF in the BIG 10.1 Oz tube for use with a caulking gun for 35 bucks last fall on amazon. I wasn't sure how much I was going to need so I figured I'd spend the 35 bucks. It's wonderful. They even tell you to just leave about 1/2" hanging out of the tip and it will seal itself for use later. Sho' Nuff'.... this summer I went to use a little more and just yanked out the dried plug...... I like it.
