Hey I want some insight as to what to do about my carb. Unfortunately I live in california and I have the california carb # 17058475 and it seems like buying a rebuild kit on my own is unlikely. Do the carb "rebuild" kits you buy at autozone/napa work for this carb as well or am I better off having it rebuilt by someone or just buying a new carb/different model q-jet? I dont necessarily think my carb is bad but I def want to replace all the seals n gaskets but would like to know if those kits can work for my carb as well. Thanks anyone who can help 👍

Your carb is not the original carb for the car - it is a Service Replacement carb built in 1986, which is a good replacement carb for the original California carb.
The kits currently available from NAPA, AutoZone and other retail outlets are just junk. If you want to rebuild the carb yourself, get your parts from Cliff Ruggles. It takes the same parts and rebuild kit as many of the other "standard" 1979 carbs.
