Default Correct original carpet.

I believe I found some original carpet for my 1972 red Corvette. When you take a look at the picture, the smaller sample is the claimed correct carpet. The other carpet next to it is from Al Knoch. The carpet that I received from is

cut to NCRS guidelines. I did not expect to find this other carpet so now I’m very very curious.

I did take a look at the NCRS judging Manual and it appears the picture of the original 72 carpet is correct. However, I know we have many experts on this board and I would appreciate your opinions and feedback.

I understand that I may be splitting hairs on this point, but my goal is to take this car back to day one. Thank you all in advance for your help.

This carpet looks like the correct 80/20 loop carpet that came standard in 1972. And the new carpet pictured looks nice. An optional deluxe interior package began in 1970 and ran through 1976, which included cut pile carpeting.

Looks correct to me, just more vibrantly colored since it’s new.

When I got the A.K. carpet for my 69, the rear piece was cut wrong. Not even close to the 40 year old A.K. carpet I was removing which was close to the oem carpet. Somewhere I read that the grain direction for the floor carpet is not correct for NCRS judging. Oem goes front to back and the A.K. goes left to right. I may have these directions mixed up. A.K. will make it correct if requested, First picture is old A.K. vs new A.K. New A.K. looks like for a vert not a coupe. Next picture shows incorrect new A.K., old A.K., oem 69 coupe. Last picture shows old A.K. and another new A.K. that I had to send them a paper template to make. I believe the rear carpet that is straight on the top is for a vert.
