Purchased lower steering column bearing from Zip Corvette. Open the package and the document calls it an upper steering column bearing. Semantics? Is this correct?

It looks like a lower col. bearing and retainer to me. Did a replacement on my 78 col. last year.

I hope you returned that steering box while you were at Zip.

I needed to get the steering column in the vise to collapse it for a Borgeson conversion. It made it easier to replace the lower column bushing while I was in there.

Are there pictures in the shop manual? Another good reference is Jim Shea's steering papers, now hosted on the Internet Archive:

I'm with Rick. It certainly looks like the correct part. I don't get the labelling as well. As long as the part is correct, who cares. Some 18 year old typing labels?

Bikespace - Thanks for my first laugh this morning. I did find the paper on finding center. Best 6 pages I read yesterday.
