Default 82 Inside Rear View Mirror

So I bought this mirror and it came with a tube of silicone glue and after carefully cleaning the glass I glued the mount to the glass and let it sit for 24 hours. The mount looked a bit unusual as it had depressions in a pattern instead of the normal smooth surface. So I mounted the mirror and it promptly fell off so a complete waste of time and money.

Does anyone know of a inside rear view mirror that actually works?

IIRC Permatex makes a specific product especially for the rear mirror mount.
Have used it several time on my 78

Try stopping by an auto glass place and maybe they can help you out. The guy who replaced my windshield put mine back up.

Did the mirror keep falling off?

It looks like the Corvette America mirror has a normal mount part so I think I'll order one of those if I can't get the mount off the old mirror.

I have used the Permatex glue several times with success.

glass prep is key... use some brake cleaner on a microfiber to prep glass. I used the rainX brand windshield glue with good success before.

The silicone glue stuck very well to the glass but not so well to the metal mount... maybe there was some kind of film on it dunno.

i am having the same issue with my 77 - permatex didn't work for me either - interestingly I am now also having the same issue with the rear view mirror on my IH Scout, though it does last a few months each time where the corvette seems to fall off within a week or less. I am pretty sure it is something I am doing or not doing since I am having the same issue on 2 different cars now - i am thinking I am not getting the glass clean enough -

The glass and the button must be super clean, I "think" it helps to use some fine sandpaper on the button. In my case I have to fill the voids with JB Weld or something so the 1-2 drop glue will work.
