I have a 71 corvette, not sure what's in the car. A 350 engine and an automatic transmission. Trying to get more info on the transmission. I currently have it pulled out of the car. I found a plate on it, the plate has a 463 stamped on it in addition too, 71-CK and 6870. Another place on the transmission had "Nepal Motors Corp" and 8623462 Does any of this make sense to anyone?
Pictures would be nice. A tag on the passenger side is generally a 400 Turbo. The stamped 71; maybe yes an original 1971 trans. Do some of these numbers match the last numbers of the VIN?
Research all things C-3 at: corvettec3.ca
Research, research….All sorts of TH 400 information on the net.

You sure the "Nepal" isn't "General"? Transmissions are usually cast with the complete GM name.
Unfortunately the hot tanking that occurs with a rebuild often removes the painted portion of the tag.
Your tag originally had a colored background and other wording/logos like this:
I believe all Corvettes up to the mid-70s had TurboHydromatic 400 transmissions.
71 is the model year;
C indicates Chevrolet;
K/S/Y indicates what engine it was paired with: K being the 350 in Camaro and Corvette.
463 is a Julian date from Jan. 1, 1970 > April 9, 1971 (how does this match your VIN birthday?)
6870 is the transmission's serial number. There should also be a partial VIN of the car it was originally installed in on the driver's side, by the transmission shift boot.
