Default 76 Heat

Hi everyone, I'm having some weird action with the blower motor when trying to run heat in my 76. My car has ac but it's not connected at this time. The blower motor seems to be working intermittently. Also, when the blower motor does work, the blower runs in the off position at low speed and increases speed to medium1 and medium 2 as I toggle it to the right until I get all the way to the right (to the "hi" position). At the "hi" position, it turns off. Any ideas what the problem may be or what I need to check? Thanks.

Either the blower speed resistor or the high speed blower relay.

It's supposed to run on low at all times. Nothing is wrong there. As per not running on high.high is a separate circuit.

Look at the plastic connector that goes to the resistor, mine was not making a good connection. I found it by accidentally hitting the connector while the blower would not come on.

Ok, thanks. I'll definitely check the connections.

Hi everyone, I checked the connections on my blower speed resistor and high-speed blower relay and they were good. I pulled them from my car and I want to test them. What's the next step for testing? How do I check them with a multimeter? Thanks

The resistor is only in the circuit when the fan speed selector switch is in the LOW, M-1 & M-2 speeds.
I would check these three things is this order...
1. There is a 30 amp fuse (RED ARROW) down below the master cylinder, make sure that is good.
2. At the high speed relay make sure you have voltage between circuit 150 & 968 (I believe that is what energizes the relay when HI is selected on the Blower Switch) Dk.Blue wire.
If the engine is OFF you should be able to hear the relay energize, a click sound.
3. If you hear a click and have voltage between 150 & 65A and still no HI speed I would remove the High Speed Relay and you can peel back the little metal tangs on the cover to remove it. Use a piece of light sand paper and clean the contacts inside the relay...

Thanks. One thing I did see online is there seems to be some question about some C3s having the 30amp fuse under the master cylinder but I will check that and everything else you listed when I get back over to my car.

Pretty sure my 76 30a fuse is adjacent to the evaporator

Thanks everyone, The problem was the high-speed relay.
