I have owned three or four timing lights over more years than I care to admit. My last one failed recently and I bought an Innova 5568. Nice piece. Built in tach. Makes me glad my last one failed.

I also use a Sears Craftsman timing light from the 1980’s that I bought for my 1980 Z28 back then. I now use it on my 1981 C3 Corvette and continues to work great. As others have said, sometimes old school technology is the way to go.

Good luck

Is your timing light an inductive like the above photo or an even older one like mine that connects directly to the spark plug? As mentioned above the type I have might shock you when used on a HEI ignition system. However I'm sure I used it on my 81 C10 Custom Deluxe after changing the engine 3 times and Chevy started using HEI in 75... so I'll give it a try when I get the ignition back together.

My innova like the one pictured above works great
Sonny Leonard had one in his shop, that's good enough for me.

Well I just verified that my old timing light does not work so time to get a new one. I ordered the Innova 5568.

I've had mine for about 4 years and really like it - my old chrome Craftsman wasn't dial-back. Make sure you keep the spark plug pickup wire off of your exhaust manifold/header! BTDT - kinda pricey but at least the light's cable set is easily replaced.

Dang, that's the same model I had. I burned mine out watching fuel injector spray patterns for issues.
