I own a 1969 350/300 base model coupe with the original motor. I was decoding the numbers on the Rochester quadrajet and the date seems kind of funny to me. The model number is 7029207 which I think is correct for my car from the research I've done. The date stamp is 1924, which I believe to be July 10, 1964.I know the Rochester carb build dates can be different from the model year of the car, but 5 years seems like a big difference. Maybe I decoded it wrong? Does anyone have any insight on this?
If its original to the car I plan on keeping/rebuilding it. If it's not I may consider upgrading. Thanks in advance everyone!

The carb you have is a Service Replacement carb for a 350/350-horse '69 built in 1974. It is the best Q-Jet ever built by Rochester, and you will never find an "upgrade" carb over what you have. There's not a carb on the market that will outperform it. The carb is "vintage correct" for your car, even though the 300-horse cars did not come with the high performance carb. If you want to get rid of it, and put a shiny new Edelbrock carb on your car to slow it down a little, I will pay postage and send you my address.
350 Cu. In. with 350 HP. Carb built on the 192nd day of 1974. IIRC the coding for Rochester Q-Jet. The “0” (zero) before the 7 isn’t proper, either. 7029207. I had one manufactured in 1985, prolly on my dad’s birthday, 158. Paid $85 at the local auto parts store. I had it set up for my F/SA ‘67 Camaro for $15 by a racer from Fort Wayne. TMI! www.corvettec3.ca for all numbers C3.

Make sure you buy your parts from a good source and not off eBay, Amazon, or from any of the storefront auto parts stores - they will be junk Chinese parts. Make sure you identify and rectify all the "mods" that have been done to the carb over the past 50 years and set it up properly.

To the OP Mandrews1984, send an email to Lars ( v8fastcars@msn.com ) for his paper on Quadrajets and information on his rebuilding service. The testimonies of his work is extensive in this forum and in my personal experience I cannot recommend him highly enough. He rebuilt the OE Quadrajet on my 73 L82 and another for a friend of mine with a Camaro. Both work flawlessly.
Also, if you have problems with your carb and/or need a rebuild, Lars is "THE" man for this job. You MUST contact him via the e-mail address listed above in order to get a response. No one is better with these Q-Jets than him. There are other GOOD sources...but they are few and far between and can be hard to contract.
Don’t waste your time and “who knows how much of your MONEY.” Have Lars restore your Quadrajet to factory specs, your engine will thank you every time you drive your car. All you have to do is read a few posts were guys try to solve their carburetor problems themselves. I am sure there are guys that can do the restoration work correctly, but to be honest, they are the rare EXCEPTION, END OF STORY.
I'd have to say, if you wish to run a Quadrajet carburetor. Your very best bet is not to rebuild it yourself, but rather send it to Lars. He's in Colorado I believe, so fairly central for those of you In the states. You don't have enough lifetime left to learn all that Lars has already learnt about these carburetors.
Another recommendation for Lars (not that he needs another one).
He rebuilt my Q-Jet a few weeks back. Got it back on the car a week ago and it's like driving a whole different car. Fires up quickly and strong on cold starts, idles perfectly when cold and once it's warmed up, and much improved throttle response. It's the best money you'll ever spend on your car.
