Re: 6 speed question: Does anyone know........ (Corey 68)
The production T56 uses a shallower bellhousing compared to the muncie and T10's used in C3's. This means the input shaft is shorter so you can't use a regular bellhousing with a T56. The bolt pattern is the same, so you can use a T56 bellhousing, but they are setup for a hydraulic clutch. The clutch is also different and won't bolt to your flywheel. Conversion clutches are available.
The retrofit T56 will bolt to a old bellhousing and use a regular clutch. It also has a mechanical speedo drive (production T56 is electronic only).
Re: 6 speed question: Does anyone know........ (Corey 68)
I plan on converting to hydraulic. So my flywheel will work, just not my clutch and pressure plate?
Yeah, I remember reading about a "half-n-half" clutch that would bolt to the old flywheel, but work with the T56. I want to say it was centerforce, but memory is hazy. I looked into the T56 about 2 years ago. Also, what are you going to do for a speedo?

Joey, nah I didn't go it was raining at my house so I stayed home and studied. My buddy called the track and they said that they had about 600 people there and about to start racing. He drove 1 hour there to find out it got rained out. Need less to say he was pissed!
Re: 6 speed question: Does anyone know........ (Corey 68)
Center force makes the conversion clutch, but I would suggest getting a hydraulic through out bearing (the throughout bearing houses a slave cylinder in it. Use a stock push style clutch and be done with it. The pull style clucth used on the z's is a big pos. i know i own one and have had lots of problems, especially with the centerforce clutch. Its a terrible design for use with the t-56 setup that comes with the z's. There are several companies that sell differnt converstion setups with stronger bellhousings and stuff like that. i used to have the articles on my computer but a hard drive crashed caused the loss of all the data before it could be backed up. But you may be able to find someone with some older Chevy Hight Performance and Hot Rod Mags, the name of the articles are GET 6 or something like that. It has all the information in there you would ever need to know about this conversion.

Good thing he didn't pay before they decided, he would have never seen that money again. :(
