I have a spread bore manifold that Bubba dug up out of his junk pile and I'd like to put a new one on for my Holley Street Warrior square bore carburetor.
I need to re-stab the distributor and set the timing and thanks to @lars for emailing me the info to do that. So I figured while doing that I'd put a new manifold on the old gal. I assume the engine is stock so just looking for a decent manifold. One issue I have now is with a 14" air filter it touches the distributor if I'm not super careful putting it on.
And this just does not look correct to me... looks like Bubba modified the manifold to fit rather poorly.
If anyone has any suggestions for a square bore manifold I'm all ears.
Thanks to all you guys help in removing any traces of Bubba in my 82.

Google up "Offset Air cleaners", that will take care of being too close to the distributor. Can't advise on the manifold, I think the head ports are smaller than "normal"....
I’m still not exactly sure what intake you have currently, but looking at the choke block off plate it looks like an Edelbrock 2101 that has the logos shaved off.
Personally I would leave it. It’s more than adequate for the power the engine is making, it has a dual mounting pattern for any kind of carb you want to put on it, and it’s already aluminum which is much lighter than the cast iron ones.
If you clean it up you might find that it’s actually not that bad. Here’s a 2101 I just painted and mocked up with ARP stainless bolts and a freshly rebuilt HEI.
Here’s a picture of one on the other car, with the same exact carb as yours. This one will also be getting stainless ARP bolts.

@Piersonpie I would clean it up and use it if Bubba didn't butcher it up trying to make it fit something. The center 4 bolt holes have been crudely elongated by Bubba. So I figure if I'm going to replace it why not just get a square bore manifold... Bubba's work must go.
Edelbrock 2101 is the same as what you have. Position the air cleaner base correctly and put a dimple on the lip near the distributor. That's what I did and you can't really tell.
Or just get the plain 2701 it's a lot cheaper... I wish I could find out the dimension from the center of the carburator to the center of the distributor on the 2701 but google is failing me.
You're current intake wasn't bubbaize, it's a fits
-all meant to fit both early and late style heads. You can lose the ignition wire retainer on the distributor for additional clearance, it's not needed.
That Intake you have appears to be an Eddy 2101 "knock-off". It's really a smooth texture whereas the real Eddys are more porous looking.
If you can get a dollar bill between the air cleaner base and the dizzy, you are good to go. Those plug wires will not ground out.
Your choice of a new Intake brings up a hot topic on hood clearance.
The Eddy 2101 Performer is 4.050 inches tall at carb pad ht.
The Eddy 27013 is 4.270 tall.
So, a common solution is not to use a std 3" tall air filter element, but instead use a 2.750 tall unit. NAPA sells them $25 and at 14" dia too.
Just use caution that your wing nut does not strike your hood.
Probably one of the Chinese knock offs from EBay or Amazon. They have the center bolt holes elongated and have no logos. As long as a good intake manifold gasket was used that blocks off the heat riser they’re actually not that bad of a casting.

Yep that has to be the manifold that's on my 82. After removing the CF tunnel I have plenty of head room under the hood. I still want to replace the manifold so I'll have to pay attention to carburetor height.
Another option considering the crazy rise in new Intake pricing, is a used one:
Look at EBay motors. Enter Edelbrock Intakes SBC.
Then click on used.
Because the Eddy 2101 is so popular, you will find a large selection of them on Ebay. People upgrade and sell their old Intake.
Some are priced same as new. Skip that.
Some have broken bolt holes, skip.
Some have oily stains that will never come clean, skip.
But one will be clean, defect free and a reasonable price.
As with all Ebay sellers, check place of origin, feedback and ratings.
Facebook marketplace is another good place to check. Whether you go with a 2101 or a different one. I got a used, but freshly bead blasted one for $100. You do have to check the threads of the thermostat housing though.
