Now the big problem is making room for it in my big shop... gotta toss out a lot of stuff I'll never use and change the layout.

You'll love the Wildfire. I've had mine for about 5 years.

With the help of my 16 year old son we went from this:

To this in a day.

Nice setup, I assume you used the engine hoist to help put it together?

Nice C3 too! I wish mine had a good paint job but that's later...

The engine hoist was vital in the assembly of the lift.
If I remember correctly, each runway weighs over 300 pounds.

Got it home today and with the rain in the forecast I put it under the carport and kicked out the 10' aluminum trailer until I can unload it in the big shop.

So those three mounds are the remains of my raised beds so that's why they are so green with all the good plant food in there and they need to get the scoop treatment...

I had to move a few things to make room for the lift

This table needs a new zip code... I don't build equipment any more if I can help it.

FINALLY!!!! This is going to make everything I do easier for me. I was a bit concerned if I could get the C3 lined up with the lift as there is not much room on the other side of the garage door but my wife did a good job of getting me lined up.

All the step by step photos are here.

@ZIOGEO Sorry for what might be a dumb question, but I see you have 9' garage ceilings. I do too. Just to confirm: you are able to get 2 Vettes in the garage with the lift?

I'm way too early in the process, but have been wondering if I could pull that off with my 110" ceiling height, assuming I convert my existing garage over to a high lift from the standard one it is today (I assume I need to do that in order to make it work)

I was wondering the same thing.
I too have 9 foot ceilings.
What do you do about the garage door?

I would be perfectly OK with not being able to walk under it, as long as I could roll under on a stool.

For my garage I had a garage door company change the door tracks to hug the ceiling. They also installed a side mounted garage door opener. It works well for me. Jerry

I have one garage door with extra high tracks so the garage door is about 1' from the ceiling... as noted the side mounted opener will also give more room. I will have to do that before I move the lift to a garage bay.

Correct, you will need to have the garage door rails changed to the ceiling hugger rails. I called a local garage door company to do the change and it worked out well enough to park my daily driver Golf R under the C3. The Golf R is bigger than the C3 in every dimension except length so if you have 9' ceilings you can stack 2 C3's with no effort

Do you mind sharing the conversion cost for your garage? I called one local place so far and the guy told me a bit over $4K for our double garage door to convert it plus add the side mount opener.

Mine was done about 15 years ago. At that time the opener was about $800. It is a Liftmaster for a double garage door. It comes with a battery that will open and close the door 10 times if the power goes out. Look it up on Amazon. The tracks cost another $1500 or so. The tracks were special ordered and both springs were replaced with larger heavy duty springs. I know $4K sounds like a lot, but prices for goods and services have gone up drastically in the past decade. Good luck. Jerry

Seems a bit expensive but not totally out of line. I kept the door and everything else was changed, springs, cables, tracks, door wheels etc. I also didnt go for the new door opener motor. Its manual now. Cost me $1300 for a single door

Absolutely love this thing: Super strong (official Rating is 10,000lbs/installer claimed will easily handle 14,000 lbs), great safety features, came with drip trays, each bay has roller steel roller tray for each bay, rated at 4,500 lbs each to jack the car on lift, etc. I have an 11 foot ceiling but would have preferred 12 feet...............I can easily walk under the lift regardless of cars on it with plenty of room for cars below on ground level to fit

Per my earlier post for the Advantage double lift, I had the install done in July 2021 at my house in TN with the moving the double garage door to a high lift position with a side liftmaster garage door opener in my 11 foot ceiling space. The cost was $1690 4 years ago.

Description Qty Unit Cost Total LJ8900W
LiftMaster LJ8900W Light-Duty Commercial Jackshaft Operator w/Built-In Wi-Fi for Sectional Doors 1.00 $450.00 $450.00 Residential Basic Garage Door Opener Installation 1.00 $190.00 $190.00 Provide and install 3 ft high lift conversion on 16 x 7 standard, Pi insulated overhead garage door
includes material and labor 1.00 $985.00 $985.00 LM885
Liftmaster Wireless Control Panel, Wireless control panel can be installed almost anywhere in the garage, Controls one garage door opener and its lights with a large pushbutton. 1.00 $65.00 $65.00
$1,690.00
Estimate Total:

Prodoor doctor basically removed the standard hung garage door opener, used the existing garage door, modified the existing door tracks to lift the door 3 feet higher than its former position, and used half of the existing tracks for the modification. The great benefit of a higher ceiling is that when you remove the center garage door opener and lift the door higher, the actual door intrusion near the ceiling where the cars are on the lift when up near the ceiling is basically zero since lifting the garage door higher than the door opening frame cutout means very little of the actual door runs against the ceiling. I did not lose any of the 11 foot clearance due to door interference against the ceiling where the cars are on the lift! Note in the second picture, the door is fully open but cannot be seen against the ceiling!

Personally, I have 11 foot ceilings and can put any combination of my 5 cars on the lift or underneath but would have preferred to have 12 foot ceilings for the cleanest convenient usage of the space. 9 feet is going to be very tight but doable.
