Default Roller lifters in wrong.

i put the last 2 lifters in the wrong way when I was putting the engine together. Ran it for about 15 minutes and it had a pan leak. I pulled the engine and when I was about to put it back in I noticed that. Took them out and checked the lifter, it all looked good. Rollers had no marks on them. Checked the cam and no marks. Oil had no metal in it and the filter didn't have any metal in it other. had a friend in a shop check them for me and didn't see any problems. Any thoughts.

Seems like a good time to buy a lottery ticket with that kinda luck.

Interesting, surely somewhere in history someone has done this before, wonder how long it would have lasted.

No use buying lottery tickets...you've used up all your luck!

They amazingly can run a long time like that but will eventually destroy the cam. I'd clean the lifters REALLY good with lacquer thinner to dry them out and roll them real carefully just to make sure there's no roughness to the needles. Probably OK...but now's the time to be sure.

Not a a mark on them. Cam looked good also. Put the lifters back in and rotated the engine, the lifters went up and down as normal and the same amount as the others. Rollers were fine. I don't know what I would have done if it was bad. These are all Crane parts and they are no longer around.

That's good. No big deal if you had to use someone else's lifters in one set.

Sounds like you dodged a bullet...
