I have a battery that has been out of use for about 18 months (out of theCar) 1977 C3. Interstate checked it out and it meet all of the cranking power that I will need to start up my newly rebuilt engine.
Well I tried to screw in the positive side terminal and could never get it to catch the internal threads. I later found out that there isn't enough goog threads left for the bolt to tighten up the connection. Does anyone make an male adapter that will allow a typical top connection. I think that I can cut off the original cable connectors and install the typical top side connectors. This will apply to the Negative post as well.
Just throwing out some other options.
If you got some hardware laying around you can thread in some threaded rod and then use a lock washer and nut to clamp the connector to the battery terminal. Or a longer bolt and add washers to have the right depth and still secures the connector tightly.
And I'm wondering, why you wouldn't just throw a heli coil in that battery terminal before you would butcher your cables.
One Heli-coil in the battery, Done.
