Finally got to remove the brakes and found the following
so everyone who said the brakes were the issue were spot on. Now need to source the hardware, i have new shoes and have just bought a new rear disc.
I'm still gob smacked that the spring went from the bottom and was sitting on the top as shown but also that one side locking up would act like the whole rear end was seized.
All this can only be my fault.as I obviously removed and reinstalled the shoes when I did the rear bearings.
If the main rotor where the caliper rides is good, I'd look into just having the drum trued. No reason to replace the whole thing when the portion needing attention is just a parking brake. Likewise, I may just run it as is... it's just the parking brake. 😉
Hang onto your old disc until you confirm the new one is up to par.
I don’t tend to throw anything away, even still got the smog pump, headers, original sump and timing cover. I think in all reality I am a bit of a hoarder.
