Default '77 side exhaust

I have a '77 l48 auto that I have plans to put a 383 blueprint in this winter. I love the look of side pipes especially the ones that look like individual header pipes coming out the side. Want Chrome or stainless, what are current sources for this.

I went with Duog’s Stainless, and chambered exhaust VettePack inserts. Couldn’t be happier, fit and finish was great.

Looks Great!! Chrome lake pipes REALLY POP on a Black Vette. Chrome reflection off the black paint flows endlessly.

Hooker and Doug’s make them, I went with Doug’s and they fit pretty well. I put covers from cobra stuff on them.

I have Hooker sidepipes, and they're awesome. The interchangeable muffler inserts let you choose what sound level you like, and you can't beat the look of em!

Mine has a second-hand set of hooker sidepipes. Gent I got em from dumped em because his bride burned her legs one too many times. Although they look and sound great, I confirm that potential for injury.

Do you still get burned if you have the added heat shields?

Yes, if you touch any part that's not adequately shielded, you'll be burned. Passengers / the "uninitiated" are first to suffer.
I don't know of any sidepipe scheme that's foolproof, but the early cast aluminum covers (with steel muffler & pipe beneath) seem to be safest; and Very pricey.

Whatever you do, have some sort of heat shield on the outside where you (and passengers) will be getting in & out of the car. Otherwise, burned legs will occur.

Default Tee Nuts for frame mounting bolts

Just installed a pair of Hookers on my '69. I used Tee Nuts (stainless) to hold the frame mounting bolts in place while getting the pipes in place. The Tee nuts had prongs that I cut off, but I think you can also get them without the prongs. To hold the bolt from turning, I cut a slot in the end of the bolt for a screwdriver. The rubber donut still slid on the bolt with just a little extra effort. Tee nut size is 3/8-16 x 7/16.

I've been in this Corvette hobby for a number of years now.
Absolutely every owner of side pipes, (well for any amount of time) has story's to tell about burnt calf's. Mom's getting burned on Mother's day taking her out to lunch. Wives with permanent scar's. One friend's wife has scar's on both leg's.
Me, I went with ground effects.
Do they look nice?
HECK YA!!!
Are they stupid money?
Heak ya!
Will you make more power?
Absolutely NOT!
