I am trying to hook up the vacuum lines on my 71 vette with a 350. It was taken the vacuum lines and fuel lines were taken off by my son when he tried to put a Edelbrock carb and a hei distributor. The way he had it hooked up only resulted in the engine to start, rev up and immediately die. I told him to try and put the quadrajet carb back on but don’t know what to hook up where. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Pics would be awesome.
Above post does not appear to be a '71 carb. No EGR on a base 71 engine. The '71 base engine has the TCS system (transmission controlled spark) with solenoid/vacuum switch on the throttle linkage.
Your best reference on how to hook up your carb would be the Assembly Instruction Manual (AIM), UPC 6, sheet C1.

Pete's photo is of an M4M Q-Jet, which has no resemblance to a 4MV 1971 carb. The vacuum hose hookup and routing is shown in the Assembly Instruction Manual for your car, and is covered in the "Emissions" section of your Shop Manual.
