Hi everyone..
Where does the tachometer cable connect on a 1973 Corvette?
Because I found it cut off and the tachometer is not working and I don't know where to connect it
I hope you can help me with the explanation with pictures so that I can understand the method perfectly.
thanks..
On the distributor on the shaft right under the cap might go straight on the threaded connecter or the connecter might have a right angle adapter on it,

If you mean this hole in the picture, I searched for it but did not find it. My distributor does not have it.
Is there another way or place to connect the cable?

Hi and welcome
The distributor in the picture is mechanical. Post a photo of yours, and some will determine if yours is an electrical distributor with wires, not a screw on terminal..
I don't have a picture of it now, but it's similar to this one. My Corvette model is 1973, but this type in the picture says 75-80. In this case, what does it mean? Has it been changed? And how do I connect the cable?
It looks like they removed the old "points" distributor with the mechanical tach plug in provisions and replaced it with an electric "HEI' distributor... you'll have to convert your tach over to an electrical tach and plug it in to the distributor you now have in place.
You can get a cheapish HEI distributor similar to the one you already have except it also has the tachometer drive. However, if you want to go this way first I would check the tachometer is working by spinning the cable by hand. If the tachometer isn't working you might as well keep the distributor you have and change the tachometer to an electric one. I fitted one of the China tachometer drive distributors but upgraded the coil and internal module. Done several thousand miles so far with no issues.

Is it better to change the distributor or change the tachometer to electric ?
Because they cost almost the same.
Is your tach working? Its easier to swap out the dist than the tach as long as you know or prepared to read up on doing the install.
I’m thinking about switching to electronic ’cause after doing some research, I found out the cable always breaks. That’s probably why mine’s messed up.
Yeah, just like you said — it’s gonna take more work since I’ll need to take the gauge out.
