In the AIMs instructions you have to drag them while driving to bed them in. They are not self adjusting like a regular drum brake. If you use them and drive with them on you will have to readjust them every so often. I know mine need adjusting when they will hold in one direction and not the other....not the best brake design. Some folks here ave bough the electric actuators to pull the brakes and they had good results. I was looking at going that route as well.....
When we were kids we used to do E brake slides all the time....never go my vette park brakes to work that good

Doesn't this just replace the need to pull on the handle?
The stock parking brake components inside the rotor are unchanged so still require correct adjustments. Is my description wrong?
As an alternative to the stock system, I am using Wilwood's electric parking calipers. Granted this requires some adaptation and fabrication to get the caliper mounted to the swing arm, but if you have the means, this is a solid parking brake solution.

Yes its an easy swap and has more pulling power than some of us older guys
Did replace the shoes as well as the cables and mechanical components on my ride. Everything was working nice and smooth, no sluggish movements. I adjusted both sides according to the service-manual. But i realized the rear left rim wheel becomes hot after driving for a while...
What I checked: When the parking brake was applied and then disengaged, trying to push the car by hand, it was not possible without a certain force. When the car moved, a clack was audible. This made the shoes move into the disengaged position.
I could get rid of it by turning the starwheel appr. 12 teeth instead of 6-8.
Be cause it works now, i did not dig deeper into it, why the settings are different on each sides
Mine holds great backwards. Forwards it holds but not nearly as good as if it were going down a hill backwards. Oh well, it sleeps in the garage anyway and its a 4 speed so reverse works great. I do use it sometime. I did install SS hardware when I went with off-set trailing arms.
