I've just installed this complete exhaust system. The car is new to me and the prior exhaust system was not correct so I don't have anything to reference.
Are the pipes supposed to touch like this by the differential?
My 71 is a 350 and there's about 2-3 inches between the pipes at their closest. I'm not sure about your big block, but it just doesn't look correct. Are you sure the pipes are COMPLETELY inserted into the mufflers' expansion tips? Forcing them in deeper would help seperate the pipes under the diff. I twisted my mufflers back & forth on the pipes numerous times to get them to fully seat before I secured the muffler hangers at the ends.

The pipes are typically close, but don't touch.
It's a matter of how the hangers at the mufflers are adjusted.

I purchased the exhaust components from Zip Corvette. A month later and I'm still waiting for the exhaust tips which they now say will ship in 2 weeks/6 weeks after originally ordered... The bezels they sent do not fit like the originals/I can make them work, but it would be really nice if the holes would line up/will take more effort than I'd like to make them fit.
