Re: Anyone have Hooker headers on a small block ? (Clink69)
I have the Hooker Sidepipe headers. 1 5/8 primaries. I think this is more than enough. I put out 460HP gross...
I agree. I switched from Dynomax 1 5/8" headers to Hooker 1 3/4" Super Comps on my 383 with Sportsman IIs and they killed a lot of the low-end torque. I think you'll need a small block with higher RPM capability than mine (~6000) to make up for it on the top end. FWIW, there is at least one legendary street Big Block combo floating around on the net that uses 1 3/4" primary / 3" collector headers on a 468 and it runs mid-low 11s in a 4000lb+ Chevelle.

I run the 1 5/8 Comps on the 406.Check out the buildup article on my website. They tested and found quite a difference in primary size.Smaller is better for torque.
Re: Anyone have Hooker headers on a small block ? (MotorHead)
Wayne,
I just rummaged through invoices and my ceramic coated HOOKERS are Model # 2134-1 for SB engines (such as my ZZ4). I must also admit that they are 1-3/4"on the primaries (and NOT 1-7/8", as I origninally thought). Apperantly there are no HOOKER 1-7/8" primaries for the Chevy SB available according to the speed shop, who installed mine. I hope this helps.
From: Who says "Nothing is impossible" ? I've been doing nothing for years.
Re: Anyone have Hooker headers on a small block ? (Ghostrider)
That's great I need the number and 1 3/4 is big enough for me
According to my secret sources #2134-1 is for a Corvette 1963-82, 265-400ci motor, 1 3/4 in. primaries and 3 inch collectors and the "-1" is for ceramic coating:D
