I The hook up is a walk in the park, but the wiring harness is a nightmare. Sensors and terminals are completely different, and as few months back, nothing was available, everything would have to be custom made.
Most of what you see above we fabricated ourselves. Good thing my dad is a "Jack of All trades". :yesnod:

the northstar seems to be quickly gaining popularity with rodders. I dont think people are putting them in your "standard" muscle cars, ie. 60's 70's vettes, chevy's whatever. I have seen quite a few in older rods , '32 fords and such, they sound pretty cool and have a lot of potential from what i've seen. they're was a long article about them in hemmings rods and performance about a year ago i think.

It will be a neat project but enitrely very expensive. But talk about high technology in a C3. I bet a centrifugal supercharger would be cool for it too. I am glad people in my family are good at fabricating stuff

The first longitudinal application of the 4.6-liter Northstar V-8. To optimize coolant and oil flow for the new application, the water pump was moved to the front of the engine, which required changing all of the coolant passages and engine cavities - in effect, a virtual redesign of the block and heads.

I looked at the link, but I don't think G.M. is being entirely forthright about what they did to convert the Northstar to rear wheel drive, and move the water pump. I think they actually changed the water pump from an external pump to an internal pump like they have always used on small and big block Chevys. The water pump on the current Northstars is an external pump. If you looked at the pictures of the street rod installation acouple of posts up this thread, you'll see two anr fittings on the body of the pump. I would presume there are two more fittings on Northstar engine that connect to the pump through hoses. If the current pump can be moved, and driven off the engine, the only concerns would be that it maintains the same directional rotation and that the hoses from the pump go to the same fittings on the engine.

I have a 94 Concours and if I remember correctly the water pump is belt driven from one of the cams. In a straight line it would out run my Stock Vette.

I don't know the bore and stroke, but it's discplacement is 4.6 liters. That makes it smaller than a 305. Any engine can be stroked, if you can find an aftermarket crank for it, or have one made. The engine makes horsepower by the combination of excellent breathing ability with 4 valves per cylinder and a high tech ignition/fuel system. What I like about it is that it makes good horsepower, and the spark plugs are in the center of the valve covers instead of being in danger of being burned by exhaust headers. Also, for a f-body that tends to get front heavy with a V8 installed, the Northstar being an aluminum engine will probably not be a lot different balance wise than an anemic v6 version.

I looked into one for a swap in a late model. You can even bolt up a 200R4 from a V-6 to it. Looks like everything will fit if the engine is moved forward and basically reroute everything.
Cons
You have to pull the intake to change the starter.
Limited go fast parts.
High dollar wiring harness.

The site that makes parts for the northstar makes special bellhousings for manual transmissions, and makes a 700R4 from an s-10 and modifies it too work.

But with the advent of the XLR on the horizen I guess it really isnt worth it is it.

I think my dad's getting burnt out on the project. He's a consultant and works 6 days a week. He has NO time to work on the car. He'd probably sell everything [engine, performance intake, larger throttle body, elec. water pump, starter, custom headers, wiring harness, computer and and 700R4 {beefed up tp handle 500hp} )to someone who's interested.

He'd let everything go for $5K which is pretty cheap considering he has twice that in it.
