Good work identifying the problem, tracking it down, and getting it resolved! I often receive carbs that have had "work" done to them that disables the secondary operation (both Holleys and Q-Jets), and the owners have operated the carbs/cars with inoperable secondaries for years without ever realizing it. Hope you have some fun with the car now!
Lars
Thanks Lars...said that, with the help like youself and others (on this site), it has made this particulr issue much much easier to solve!! Again Thanks!! Said that....after solving a couple more issues....I'm pretty confident she will make it from Sana Monica/Chicago and back i.e. 100th Anniversary Route 66
btw: When I found this LT-1 back in 2005...she was mostly all correct except for the missing 6239 carb and AIR hardware. With this site...back in...ohhh, maybe 2007 did I find both missing parts "correct dates". This was before I found you and your tunning papers ect. Said that...I sent that 6239 to someone that restored it. I did install that carb on the car...which I could immidiatly tell it was not correct. ;( Due to "at the time" time constraints.... I purchased this Sreet Avanger from 'Summit which has been good all this time....well untill recently, which is good now!! I'm thinking now, after complety rebuilding this SA, I now have confidence to completely rebuild the 6239. Needless to say, I am very curious to hear/feel how Zora intended this LT-1 to breath! If I can not manage it....probably/hopefully be able to send it to you? Cheers and fairwinds!!

Nice!! Yep, visually and audibility music to the ear!! Great job...said that...I was "a week ago" contemplating our Gopro due to not being able to get the paperclip tattletell to work correctly. I was able to fially get the paperclip to work by playing with the paperclip via neddle nose pliers "bend here, bend there" so as to make it tight enough to hold on...but inturn to also slip... Cheers!
LT-1 ....with Air...Dang...Nice!
Ask Lars for his distributor tuning papers.
Send an email to: V8fastcars@msn.com.
Set it up that way and it will really roar!
The factory timing is pretty severely retarded, for emissions, in a few spots, especially low rpm, like 10*, and that really takes the edge off an LT-1.
I ran like 16* initial with 36* total at 2800rpm, with say 12* in the vac can.
Really helped it below 3500!!
Right where you drive it all the time.

Thanks Leigh.... in actual fact, I sent Lars my distribuitor back "I think" in 2006 so as he could do his magic in which he did!! Note: You know, back in 06 after the restore....did I take the car to "I think" 3 different machanics to tune. Holy crap...3 different guys and still not really correct. Needless to say, I came to the conclusion.... I needed to learn how to tune in which I did find Lars papers. Many times now...I have told like minded folks....to follow this paper line by line.....the result will be!! Hang on!!!

You might want to try running your distributor off of manifold vacuum rather than ported vacuum, as you are currently doing. Unless you're trying to pass an emissions test, the manifold vacuum will probably work out much better for you.

Interesting... I'll have a go at your suggestion. Curious....why use the manifold vers ported vacume? I would suspect "just off hand" Manifold vac would give me more vacume....which would let me see more vacume on my vacume gage....so as to adjust air/fuel mixing screws??
On that note....I have been hooked to ported vacume since restore.

Send me an e-mail request for my timing papers - these explain in great detail the difference and the reasons. Right now, you're set up to pass an emissions test, and not set up for performance or throttle response. All outlined and explained in my papers.
