Default 82 Change Fuel Filter

While working on getting ready to install the new BP 350 my plan was to replace the fuel hose from behind what I assumed was an after market filter of some sort on the passenger frame rail. After closer investigation the filter looks to be stock with a stock bracket holding it and some searching shows that it's the stock fuel filter. Behind that is a metal fuel line. So when I loosened up the clamp after the filter and loosened up the hose I assumed the hose would drain out and I could start replacing the fuel line. Well after a cup or two drained out into my container I assumed it was siphoning from the tank so I put the hose back on and tightened the clamp.

After watching this video the fuel should have stopped coming out, maybe I didn't wait long enough?

I watched the video. She cuts away from the gas coming out of the filter and hose and never shows either one stopping. You should also notice you have an aftermarket pressure regulator before the filter. I would have the new filter with the new rubber hoses connected and ready to install and quickly swap them out. The tank being on the high end will not stop draining.

The pressure regulator after the filter is being replaced with a new one with a gauge that I'll mount on the inner fender. I'll pump the gas out of the tank then change everything. I have time now as I need to order a new filter. I kinda had a hunch the tank would never stop draining after a couple of cups of gas drained out.

Often videos cut out the important stuff.

When I changed mine after it drained out a gallon I realized that it was siphoning from the tank. I used a hose clamp but I heard that you can lift the front higher than the rear as well.

Right now the C3 is without a motor and on my 4 post lift so tilting is not an option. I'll use the fuel pump to empty the tank out. I connected the hot wires that go to the starter together with a bolt and taped them off and put the battery back in. I'll connect a hose to the fuel line and pump the fuel out into a container.
