Default Did I store the jack correctly?

Is my car jack stored in the correct manner? is it in the right angle? does it need to be stored on its side or on its base?

Car: Early 1969 427 Coupe Manual

After the first time the jack was ever used, the technique is simple: You throw it all in the compartment and close the lid.

Are you sure that the other end of the UU hook shouldn't be engaged to the tie down instead???

Just kidding!

Look at the profile of the floor of the compartment. Look at the shape of the base of the jack. Draw your own conclusion.

Default Me? I am going to call a tow truck!

After struggling to get a 50+ year old 255 60 15 tire into the tire tub (yes it fits barely) and wondering if an almost 60 yr old jack is going to safely work, there is NO WAY I am going to try to use any of this! My phone has my tow truck buddy on speed dial.

I wanted to store it permanently in a proper way. I found it running around in the compartment.

Also I wanted to make sure that it does not push on (and damage) the storage compartment that will cover it.

It's free insurance rather than find yourself somewhere in the middle of the night with no cell phone reception and a blown sidewall that a can of inflator won't fix. Check your spare tire date.

Hello,
Here's a quote from one of the suppliers that offers the 'reproduction' jacks.
We probably know what's going on here.
Regards.......
