Currently installing side pipes, since the headers are block huggers, there’s no way for me to get the grounding wire on the correct side of the bracket, would it work if I put the grounding wire on the engine block, then the bracket overtop and securing it?
On my 77 the engine ground cable attaches to the block with a threaded hole just above and I believe slightly forward of the starter brace bracket bolt. Not the same bolt as the starter brace.
At any rate a good clean connection anywhere on the block to a good clean connection anywhere on the frame with a good quality heavy gage cable will work.
When I had headers on my 79 I relocated the end that attaches with the starter support brace all the way forward to a bolt by the fuel pump.
I think it was the bolt that held the lower AC support on the 79.
Safely cleared the headers.
