it's not that bad, but some folks just don't like our C3's

:iagree: , on a personal note, I am in the planning stages of building a C2 vert. on a C5. I will keep my 72 as this new/old vette will be for my wife as a 20th anniversary present in 2005. There are things to love about each generation and as well things that are not so good but I do love vettes so the era does not really matter to me and is definately not something I would want to argue over.

i personally like all vettes...i am not a big fan of the 53/54/55 corvettes, but i wouldn't kick one out of bed either...to me, i like the harshness of my '74...it makes me realize that "i'm driving a car" -- i guess i am somewhat opinionated, since i've never driven any other vette except mine...i do realize that each generation has their quarks, but that is what makes it fun! with that said, i'm taking a nap

I sold a C-4 last year to up-grade to a C-3.
I also had a '62 Triple Blk. about 20years ago. The C-4 that I sold was a black vert, cherry Condition.

Problems With the C-4s: I'm only 5'9 and 170 lbs., plays tennis and do Yoga every day. I think I'm pretty agile.
The C-4 was a pain in the butt to get in and out of. My wife refused to go into that hole. We never took it out to any tennis tournanent for that reason.

Problem 2: As beauitiful as the paint, chrome rims, and new top on the C-4... no one ever said nice car or gave me a double take.
I was able to buy a '90 ZR-1 w/ 5K mi. or a Grand Sport in my seach for a replacement for the C-4 I had.
I choosed a 1968 Black vert., small block. Reasons: My friends and I can work on the car. The car will hold it's value.. so would the ZR-1 and GS.

Next classic car insurranse is only $125 for 6 months w/ a $29k covage. MOST OF ALL... every where I go with '68 I have people of all ages givine me the shakka sign (thumbs up)..women and kids of all ages howls when I drives by. Girls will run across the street to ask if that was my car, and look at the car like they saw Brat Pitts. You all know what I'm talking about? They don't.
Even a ZR-1 and GS.. only a few men would know what it was.
The people on the C-4 forum are really nice and helpful. Most of them knows this, and some just "DON'T GET IT. My 2 cents.
If someone know how to forward this post to the C4-thread.. please do.

As far as I am concerned......there 2 kinds of Corvettes.........nice ones and REALLY nice ones.............but then what do I know.......... :D :D :D

The post was not meant to bash the C3. I like C3's and wanted to buy the 81 but just couldnt get into it. I would still love a C3 chrome Bumper Vert any day of the week. I should have worded it differently on C4 general, my apologies. Thats what i get for posting at 1 am. :cheers:

Different stroke for different folks. As far as compliments i get them almost every time i take the car out although that is not why i own it. I own it for me not other people. In any event sorry and lets all keep :steering: and :seeya

When I bought my '82 3 years ago, my friends, to a man, all said, "Why would you buy a C3? You coulda bought a C4 for THAT kinda money!" But, once my friends SAW the C3, they changed their tune! I'd NEVER considered getting a C4; I grew-up with C3s, and thought of C4s as 'stretch-limo, long-wheelbase Madza RX7s' as far as it's styling. I'm aware the C4s are technologically advancedover the C3s; they SHOULD be! C3s were developed before man laid foot on the moon; C4s were developed during the Space Shuttle program! I like, and respect ALL Corvettes, and their owners, but, it's C3 for me! Besides, I already have a 12-second street car in my garage; I got the C3 for it's looks, and for 'cruising'. :thumbs: :chevy :yesnod:

 

i love Vettes...period...
BUT having said that i really dont understand what would make a person buy a C-4...
to me they are Vette wannabees...they look more like a Firebird than a Vette...
IMO they have no style almost to the point of being ugly...
the normal backyard mechanic (me) can not work on them because of the computer system...
there is NO WAY i would EVER even consider buying one...
in fact...i would buy a Rustang before i would buy one...seriously
this is not ment to be a slam or anything as i know that we are all diferent and that is cool...i just wanted to vent my humble but correct opinion on this subject...

 

Well i am glad i apologize, i feel the above post is in just as bad is not poorer taste than mine in content. I like MOST corevettes including C3's up until the chrome came off. I have never had anyone mistake my convertable C4 for a firebird and i picked it over a C5 coupe. I'd take a C5 vert instead but i think the C4 Vert is the 2nd nicest design made (Tied with the chrome bumper verts) I think the C5 Vert is the nicest. Anyway as stated different strokes for different folks. I want to add more but it will be in poor taste and i learned my lesson already. :steering: on!

i am sorry if i offended you sir but i was simple stating my opinion on body styling (or lack of) and also MY OPINION on the C-4's in general...
it just seems "TO ME" that the only tool the GM designers had those years were straight rulers...and no imagination...

but...hey...thats just me...
i can apreciate a guys love for a Hudson or even his Edsel for cripes sake!
its just that I...for me...just find them discusting and plain looking...

see... its OK with me if you (or anybody) dislikes my car...it REALLY is...
what matters is that we, the owners of any car, love and enjoy them...
after all...I am the one that has to see it in my driveway everyday and I am the one that has to drive it...so whats important is that "I" love it... :)
and the same goes for you and your car as well as everybody else...right?

i once had a car salesman say to me that "there is an azz for every seat"
i never forgot that...it seems as tho no matter how ugly a car is...SOMEBODY is eventually going to walk up and fall in love with it and buy it...
thats what makes this such a great and interesting world to live in... :)

you say you like C3's up until the chrome came off? :nonod: -- that's dumb, considering your C4 doesn't have any chrome.

i love the look of the C4, the only fault i can find with them is that cheezy azz digital dashboard...as a matter of fact, i think all GM cars produced in the 80's have cheezy looking interiors...IMO -- still think C4's are neat, and i actually wouldn't mine owning one someday...
