Do you know of anyone who went to a solid axle in their C3?
4 link suspension?
I would like to hear any feed back.
I am seriously considering building an aluminum BBC designed to 1/4 mile and stalk the streets.
I was thinking a new rear end set up would be in order.
All feedback appreciated.
I've known quite a few people who had Ford 9" rear ends & 4-link(or ladder bars) in C-3's & C-2's, but all were purely for the drag strip. All though, back halved the car with Chassis Engineering, Alston, etc rear sections that were designed to work with the Ford 9" & coilovers and were converted at race shops. I really don't think you can pull off what you are talking about without doing some major hacking to the original frame. I could be wrong, but again I am talking about those that I know of. The Ford 9" is the choice of the drag racing community.
I have often thought about it but what would happen to my battery box. I don't want to loose them. I have a good picture of a ford 9 inch but don't see any of the battery boxes.
John Dirks I can send you the picture of a 9 inch in a corvette tomorrow from my work computer. I will send it by email or if others want to see it post it here.
I don't know patsnitrovette. It was posted about a year ago by someone and I just saved a copy in case I decide to go that route with mine. There is a local place that specializes in putting 9 inch in corvettes and apparently it is not too hard. I just don't want to give up my independent suspension and I worry about a 26 inch driveshaft that has to go through a suspension change everytime I go over a bump.

Here's some help.
Some early GTOs (goats) came from the factory w/ FoMoCo (marked on them) 4spds.! The demand for 4spds. was higher than expected.
There was a post on the Drag Racing section that talked about a bolt in solid rear for the c4, and a c3 kit would also be available this summer. I will try to find it.
