My 69 does not have the CORVETTE letters on the back and whoever did the body work before I got it filled them in. Does the letters come with a diagram of where/how they are spaced? I am not really thrilled about drilling holes in the new paint...Any ideas?
I would first look at the back side to see if you can still see all of the holes and if yes, then I would drill from the back with a VERY sharp drill at a fairly high speed, but very slow and controlled feed.
Agreed, look from the back side to see evidence of filler in the holes. Carefully scrape it all away off the back of the rear tail panel, then use a TINY drill bit to drill them out.
If your tail panel has been replaced with one that does not have holes pre-drilled, then you'll need a template. I got one from a fellow Corvette owner and used it to drill the holes in my panel. When I was finished with it I passed it on to ddecart, so you may want to see if he's able to pass it on to you if needed.
Forgot about the possible marks on the inside of the rear end. I like GrandSportC3's idea...still gotta drill those holes. IM'd NHvette as I will cover all bases. Got an assembly manual but I do not feel comfortable with it...
thanks all... :hurray:
