If its a 2.0 then its the turbo. Sounds like it might be the non-turbo motor. No crankwalk problems. Believe its the same motor used in the Neon.

It is a 1.8 non turbo, automatic car, SOHC plain jane engine....
thing is somehow some kid/idiot/whoever might have ran it out of oil and so the stick is clean, and the dealer says engine is no good,...knows nothing more...beleive ME, this guy does NOT know cars....from India/Paki etc....
BUT the saving grace is, the car is CLEAN, and I don tmean just car lot clean...it's NOT bad at all....panels line up, paint matches, no dents/dings....interior nice enough....for a '93 afterall....
but the thing is that damn ENGINE....need information...
:iagree:
Crank walk is a big problem with the Mitsu 4 banger motors. A good friend of mine had it happen on his GSX eclipes. It was pretty funny watching the pulleys and all move when he pushed in the clutch.
Crankwalk is only a problem on second generation DSMs with manual transmissions. If I can recall correctly the DSM in question is a first generation therefore it does not have a problem with crankwalk.
I had a turbo once that the balance shaft spun out. Shaked violently at about 3000 rpms. If it want turn over and there is no oil. I'd say no go. Those cars burn up valve stem seals very easy. Just look at all the black smoke on the bumpers.
