As Signguy indicated, the product is Reflectix http://www.reflectixinc.com/default.asp available at Lowe's. It's mainly a heat barrier but serves well as a sound deadener also. I put it down before installing my carpet this past winter, and can't believe the difference it makes.

Hmmm.... I keep comming back to this post and I think I like the tan carpet more and more. In fact, now I think it would look better than black. Your right, it really brightens up the car.
