is it worth it to buy a multispark ignition system? I have a 15 year old ignition system on my vette, and it needs a tune up bad.........should I spring the extra skins and buy an ignition box from MSD?
If the engine is stock or close to it, there is no lost power with the HEI. The HEI is a very good ignition system and with a good module, cap, rotor and coil will fire fine upto 6000 rpm.
Of course a MSD system is not going to hurt anything so if you want one, why not? But I really don't believe there will be a power difference. I dynoed my 96 Z28 with and without a MSD6A and there was no power difference.
If the ignition system is in good working order on a stock to mild motor there will be no difference. A CD ignition is good when you are running high compression, Blowers or nitrous. I'd stick with the stock HEI and save your money for other parts. The HEI is tough to beat when setup right.
ya, maybe just a cap and wires will be sufficient for my purpose
i am running near 10:1 compression, but i don't think that is high enough to warrant a multispark ignition
I wonder where you'd find a guy that'll help you do a cap/rotor/k&N/wires and plugs installation. (remember rubber grommet OVER the spring contact for the rotor this time) :nono:
you want to work on the engine or put in the stereo first try not to get any beer in the interior and no smoking in the vette after drinking 12 each. lol none of that. :nono:
