I cranked er up, pulled out of the garage.... revved it a few times.. :) pulled back in the garage... now I want cutouts! I guess I will get started on hooking up the exhaust pipes now....
The value of pics!! I always try to take plenty of "before" pics to help me put things back together later. I was just reviewing my before pics, and noticed I mixed up the various cotter pins holding the clutch linkage together... no problem, I think I will leave as-is... but what's that in the pic? Oh! the clutch spring! I forgot to hook that back up. I will go do that! :)
Here are the headers. I have decent ground clearance, which is a pleasant surprise. :)
If you're going to keep racin you better get a Lakewood under there also.. :yesnod:
Do you mean a bellhousing? Is that the same thing as a scattershield? I don't do burnouts or powershift. What are the chances of my clutch exploding? I guess a driveshaft loop would be a good idea too. MJ

Yea, thats a scattershield. Any clutch can explode, but more likely with power. I would at least consider a bell housing blanket for protection..
Looking gooood what is the model number of those headers, that is a BB right ,i have been looking for headers for a while. Those look great, was there much trouble with the install ? Dave

Re: Open headers are cool!! (MNJack)
ya open headers are fun. I started mine up after only installing the headers. shook the house and knocked a shampoo bottle of the tub while the kids were in the bath. They thought we were having a earthquake.
They are Hooker Supercomp #2123 for bigblock corvette, 1965 - 74 lots of footnotes, see their website! :) I bought direct from Jet-Hot. (2 years ago?? )
My biggest problem with the install was removing my driverside exhaust manifold! Once I figured out how to unscrew the motormount on that side and carefully jacked up the engine it came right out. :) The headers went on pretty easy. I thought I was making contact with the steering box but once I tightened them down (the soft aluminum gaskets compress quite a bit) there was no contact. On the passenger side the headers did just barely touch the idler arm (I think that's what you call it - connects to steering and has 2 bolts holding it to the frame). I banged on the headers a bit, but finally had to move the idler arm slightly... really slightly - don't think it will affect my steering. So it really wasn't too tough, especially if I managed to do it without running into major roadblocks! :) MJ
And, I was very pleased (even surprised) at the amount of ground clearance I have - they sit up pretty high.

So I gather you didn't have to take a hammer to them (your previous post)??? Sounds like you found a way around having to do that......like I said, these things should fit....
