I looked in archives and didn't find the answer I need. Does anyone know what it would take to swap a T5 from an 88 formula into my car. I came across one for a really good price and I'm considering this for my next winter project. Thanks.

I'm pretty sure that someone here has a T5 in their Vette.. I hope that they will chime in...
If you have a 71 LT1 in there I don't think a regular T5 will live long. GM never put the T5 in anything with more than a 305 in it.
I also remember some issues with the T5 being rotated? I think a tremec TKO would be a better choice. More money, of course, but it would suck to go through the install of the T5 just to have it grenade on you the first time you drive it hard.
I don't think T5's deserve the reputation they have. I have one in an eleven second mustang running 11 inch slicks with a 355 nitrous motor, cage and this thing pulls the wheels regularly. Still the same stock T5. I also put one behind my blown big block after blowing up 3 700 R 4's and I never had a single problem.
I switched to the Tremec only to be safe and I got $1000 for the old T5.
Do not power shift the T5 and it will live. Burn outs are no problem, it is the power shifting into 3rd where they let go.
you can pick up a T10 off of ebay for 150-300 bucks and rebuild kits for about 100 bucks they often sell w/ the bell housing and sometimes a shift, for a diffrent car, and occasionally a clutch, that would be better considering they can handle over 1000hp
150 bucks for that good of a trans is a steal, ivew been told they hold much better than a munchie
