TireRack.com has a set of Kumho Ecsta STX tires available in a 255/60-15.
It appears these tires might originally have been intended for a truck market, as the max pressure is 51psi. I am looking at putting these tires on a 1978 Corvette, so I wouldn't want to run the pressure that high. I would probably run the pressure at 28psi front, 31psi rear (per my door sticker).
Do you see a problem running these tires at 28psi and 31psi? Would that shorten the life of the tire? Would that have impact on the "speed rating" the tire is good for?
Nothing wrong with Kuhmos, but they probably don't offer a performance tire in a 15 inch diameter with that tall of a sidewall. I think they are geared more towards low profile performance tires. So they'd have something that fits a 15" wheel, only it'd have a short sidewall for use on FB and FC RX-7's or something. They'd probably have something for a 17" wheel that'd be good though.
The Scorpion Zeroes are "V" rated - but they are an SUV tire - originally produced for the Lamborghini SUV. I use them on both my C3 Vettes. The size I use on the alloy wheels is 255-60-15.
These tires have very stiff sidewalls - as they are designed for a very heavy SUV. They do corner better then the regular T/A's - and are on a par with the Comp T/A's ( H rated). I'll return to the Comp T/A's (if still available) when the Scorpion Zeroes wear out. Guess I'm getting old - I want the traction without the thumpy-bumpy ride of the Scorpion Zeroes.

Re: Kumho Ecsta STX (flynhi)
Kuhmos are routinely used on Mustangs. I have a friend with them on his Cobra and he likes them a lot....
I know a lot of C4 drivers that use them and some that even have them as their autocross tires. Very good traction, very decent wear (better than goodyear) and much cheaper than the competition.
If you aren't worried about tire wear you can check out the BFG Comp T/A Drag Radials. They are pretty good tires that offer good grip. The come in a P275/50R15.
