Edelbrock Performer Package

I'm thinking of getting the carb and the mainfold. The local tuner here said he has not have much luck with the cam that came with the package. He opted out for another cam and got very good results on more than one car. I'd figure the whole thing with parts and labor would be around $1k. Anyone here done it? Worth the money? Thanks.

Not enough cam for a Corvette. Comp 268H is good for performance 350 4spd. & max. for stock valve springs. Or XE262 & replace springs.

The price of the heads alone are around $1000.00 with out labor.

Oh, I was just thinking of just carb, manifold and cam.

Is your old carb really that bad? Ya could save some money by getting it rebuilt, I had mine rebuilt 4 years ago for 100 bucks and it still works great. Cam selections noted in a previous post would be excellent choices. I went 1 step lower (CompCam 260h) since I have an automatic and I am :D .

If it makes little difference I might as well save that money toward the heads which look like could make a bigger impact. Thanks Ganey for the cam recommendation. I'm running the complete package:
Heads
Cam
Intake
and carb
with headman headers

Took a season off and built it up.

I've got a 77 so it was a smogmobile when I started (170hp or so), once it was all on it was like driving a new car (est. 400hp not confirmed yet)..... but with my 3:08 I never had to worry about getting whiplash while pulling a hole shot. Now that i've thrown in a 3:70 it'll break the tires free out of the hole, and pulls hard 30-70 i'm pretty happy with the setup.
